What is a Ceramic Coating?

Paste wax used to be the best option for increasing your car's gloss and protecting the paint from environmental elements like rain, bird droppings, dirt, etc.

Twenty years later, a team of researchers works their magic in a lab, and we have ceramic coatings, a far more reliable and superior kind of protection.

This application is not "wax-on-wax-off". The ceramic coating is a liquid layer that bonds to the surface of the vehicle and is semi-permanent. In order to better protect the paint underneath, it will absorb weather elements including rain, mud, and snow, earning it the name "sacrificial" layer of protection.

As an example, think of the wax as a forest tent that keeps you safe. The ceramic covering resembles a forest of brick houses. Both provide shelter from rain and dust, but they are not identical.

The Benefits of having a ceramic coating in Vancouver

Many coating companies make some fairly bold claims about what they can accomplish. Although some of the claims are true, I try not to oversell its skills.

Benefits you actually get with ceramic coating:

  • produces the longest-lasting protection, lasting between 3 and 9 years.

  • It just has to be used once (and not every 3 months like other forms of protection)

  • produces a deep level of shine that is unmatched by other types of protection, such as wax or sealant.

  • offers unparalleled hydrophobic qualities that keep your automobile clean and make washing it simpler.

In most cases your car must get corrected with one of our paint correction services that we can lock the results in place with our ceramic coating. You won't be able to take advantage of all coating's advantages if you apply the coating without doing the essential preparation work.

That is how a professional ceramic coating installation varies. Additionally, if it's not installed correctly, you won't experience the benefits and your car will be covered with a lot of smudges.

We refer to these as "high spots." You'll notice this if the coating was improperly applied and allowed to dry for an excessive amount of time without being removed.

You must be aware of the weather factors because they might significantly affect the installation process. When it's hot, cold, or humid, various coatings respond differently. Additionally, if you have lived in Vancouver for more than three days, you are aware that the weather is always shifting. Because of that reason we can only provide this service if you have an indoor space (underground parking, garage and etc…).

Common Myths About Ceramic Coatings

Yes, coatings are strong and long-lasting, but that doesn't mean you can whatever you want and assume the coating will keep it safe.

It has its limitations, and it's important to be aware of what the ceramic coating is capable of. Customers frequently overestimate the coating's ability to protect their vehicles, which leaves them unhappy when swirls or etchings appear in the paint.

Your paint will not become scratch-proof due to the coating. When we state that the coating will resist minor swirls and scratches, we really do mean the tiniest of swirls and scratches that may be caused by properly washing or drying the car.

Paint will be scratched if a dry, dirty wash mitt is dragged across it. You will scratch the paint if you drag your hand or leg across it.

Your paint won't be protected from rock chips by the coating. Paint protection film will be your only effective alternative for preventing rock chips from damaging your paint (PPF).

No amount of wax or ceramic coating, or even many layers of protection, will be able to stop a rock from striking your vehicle.

To increase the coating's durability, maintenance is needed. If you don't take care of the coating, it will deteriorate over time and not have the intended lifespan, much like many other things in life.

You must properly wash, dry, and boost the coating for maximum life. A coating that was meant to last for 4 years can start to break down at year 2 if not cared for properly.

Ceramic Coating FAQ

Can I wash my car after the coating is installed?

The vehicle shouldn't touch water for the first 48 hours after the coating has been applied in order for it to properly cure. Following that, we recommend our clients to wait the first two weeks before washing their car. You will get a free premium wash after 2 weeks so we can check how the coating is holding up.

How long does the coating last?

A bare minimum of 2 years but typically up to 5 years. Really depends on factors outside of our control; weather, how often the car is maintained, where it is stored.

What sort of protection does it offer?

Nano ceramic coating with a 9H rating.  The coating forms an extremely smooth, clear, and highly durable layer of quartz as it begins to cover all of those invisible pockets, holes, peaks, and valleys.

Can I just get the coating installed without the prep work or paint correction?

We do not apply coatings to vehicles that have not gone through the proper prep and correction as you will not reap the benefits of a coating without it. %60 of the whole process is preparing the paint to get it ready for a coating. We don’t just apply the coating without a proper prep.
